Former Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore is coming off a breakout 2023 campaign for the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, his immediate playing future is uncertain after a serious health scare.
The Patriots released a statement Sunday evening announcing that Barmore was hospitalized over the week. The defender was diagnosed with blood clots and is receiving treatment, but Barmore will be sidelined indefinitely while continuing his recovery.
“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots. He was appropriately treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated and treated Christian,” said the Patriots in a statement. “Our principal concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world. While there is no current timetable for his return, we know Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

Barmore is entering his 4th NFL season after starring for Alabama’s 2020 national championship team. He led the Crimson Tide that season with 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles and finished 3rd with 9.5 TFL.
