Mack Wilson’s dream of professionally playing football is now a reality.

The former Alabama linebacker announced that he has signed his contract with the Cleveland Browns with a tweet Friday. The numbers weren’t officially revealed, but according to Over the Cap, Wilson’s deal should be worth about $2,828,796 over four seasons as rookie salaries are determined by where a player is drafted. Wilson’s salary would increase each of the four seasons, starting around $572,199. For signing, Wilson receives an estimated bonus of $308,796.

Wilson was likely expecting to be signing a bigger rookie deal. He unexpectedly fell all the way to the fifth round, making him a potential steal for the Browns. Wilson told the Montgomery Advertiser that former Alabama teammate Shaun Dion Hamilton offered support during the draft, as he had a similar experience a year ago.

If Wilson proves to be a steal, he can expect a bigger day when he signs his next contract. For now, he appears focused on making the most of his opportunity in Cleveland.
