It is not a good time for former Alabama players in the NFL.

Shortly after news broke on Thursday that former Crimson Tide center Ryan Kelly would miss at least six weeks with an injured foot that required surgery, it was reported that another former player was having shoulder trouble.

Reuben Foster, a former Bama linebacker who was taken 31st overall in this year’s NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, would likely have been an even higher pick if not for a lingering shoulder injury.

The shoulder trouble hasn’t gone away, either.

The 49ers said that Foster will be limited in Thursday’s practice because of an AC joint sprain sustained on Wednesday. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area first reported the news.

“The team says the injury is not related to his previous problem,” a ProFootballTalk report stated. “But it will keep him from participating in contact drills during a joint practice with the Broncos.”

There’s no word yet on how long Foster will be limited.
