Over the next couple of days, NFL teams are going to be cutting players to get their roster down to 53. On Sunday night, the Bears announced they were cutting former Alabama star and Raiders first-round draft pick, Alex Leatherwood.

During his time at Alabama, he was a two-time first-team All-SEC player (2019 and 2020), and a 2020 Unanimous All-American. He won the Outland Trophy in 2020, and 2 two national championships in 2017 and 2020. After an incredible collegiate career, he was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 17th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

On May 24, 2021, he signed a 4-year, $14.39 million fully guaranteed contract.

After struggling at tackle, he was moved to guard with the Raiders, but was cut by the team on August 31, 2022. He was claimed off waivers by the Bears, but was put on the reserve/non-football illness list on September 14, 2022.

The Bears still owe Leatherwood $4.59 million and now, Leatherwood will be looking to join his third team since joining the NFL in 2021.
