Former Alabama OL Cyrus Kouandjio has officially been waived by the Detroit Lions.
Kouandjio was a dominant force during his time at Alabama, but injuries have limited his effectiveness recently. He suffered an ankle injury last season that forced him to miss four games, and a hip injury sustained off the field required surgery this off-season.
Kouandjio was also involved in an odd off-field incident earlier this year.
Kouandjio is entering his fourth NFL season. The Lions tweeted out the move Tuesday morning.

It is still likely that Kouandjio can find a roster spot with an NFL team ahead of this season. Team’s are always looking for big bodies along the OL with game experience.
Alabama averaged more than 200 yards per game on the ground during Kouandjio’s three seasons with the Crimson Tide. He was a part of one SEC championship and two national championships during his time in school.
