Former Alabama QB Freddie Kitchens to be named new head coach of Cleveland Browns

Former Alabama QB Freddie Kitchens is going to be the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. The news has been reported by multiple NFL insiders.

Kitchens, who played at Alabama from 1993-97, joined the Browns staff in 2018 as running backs coach and associate head coach. When head coach Hue Jackson was fired in October, Kitchens was promoted to offensive coordinator.

In the final eight games, Cleveland went 5-3 thanks in part to strong rookie performances on offense from Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb. Kitchens has been in coaching since 1999. His previous stops include LSU (2000), Mississippi State (2004-05), the Dallas Cowboys (2006) and Arizona Cardinals (2007-17).

This week is off to quite a start for Alabama alumni.
