Former Alabama running back Altee Tenpenny was reportedly arrested Sunday morning for possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon.

Tenpenny has been suspended indefinitely by his current team, Nicholls State.

“Nicholls Athletics is aware of the incident involving Altee Tenpenny that led to his arrest early Sunday morning. Tenpenny has been suspended indefinitely from all football activities, effective immediately,” the school said in a statement. “All of our student-athletes are held to a high standard and will be held accountable for their actions. We will continue to gather information from the proper authorities regarding the incident as it becomes available.”

Tenpenny left the Crimson Tide and transferred to UNLV in May. But he was dismissed by UNLV coach Tony Sanchez in August for breaking team rules, and wound up transferring to Nicholls State. He never played a game for the Runnin’ Rebels.

“It’s unfortunate, but we’ve got plenty of guys,” Sanchez told the Las Vegas Review Journal at the time. “At the end of the day, rules are the rules.”

Tenpenny spent two seasons at Alabama, where he rushed for 218 yards and one touchdown. He was the No. 8 running back and the No. 53 overall recruit in the 2013 class, according to rivals.com.

Tenpenny has not played for Nicholls State this season.
