His 2 interceptions have come in big moments, too.
The first was in the Falcons’ preseason matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals during a pivotal fourth quarter drive. With the Falcons up 4 with time ticking down, Hellams came up with the pick and ultimately helped the Falcons end the game in a tie rather than a loss.
His second pick of preseason came against the Dolphins when Miami was in the redzone in the first quarter. Hellams came up with an interception to keep Miami off the boards. Atlanta went on the win the game 19-13.
Hellams spent 4 seasons with the Crimson Tide, stepping up as a key member of the defense in his final 2 seasons. In 2022, he came up with 108 total tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.
Hellams has ample potential heading into his rookie year, and he’s making noise early for the Falcons.
