Former Alabama safety Landon Collins was a busy man during his rookie season in the NFL.

A 2015 second-round draft pick of the New York Giants, Collins made an immediate impact, leading the team with 112 tackles.

Even with such a big role, Collins said he wasn’t happy with his rookie season, according to an AL.com report:

“You could say that last year I was kind of lost and just trying to figure it out as the season went on,” Collins told reporters at a press conference during the Giants’ Organized Team Activities.

The Giants gave up 4,783 passing yards last season and had the NFL’s worst pass defense. Collins said he’ll use the experience he gained from a tough 2015 season to help his team turn things around in 2016:

“Starting all 16 games was a privilege, and it’s an honor,” Collins said. “And what it does for me, it gives me the knowledge of the game, it gives me the knowledge of every player and every team and anybody I went against last year. And for the new teams that we’ll play this year, it gives me the knowledge to see things that I went through last year against a team, and if I can compare that to a team that we’re going to play this year, I’ll know what’s going to happen and I’ll have a step ahead.”

Collins will have some help in the secondary this season. He’ll work with newly-signed CB Janoris Jenkins and first-round draft pick Eli Apple.

The Giants report for training camp on July 28.
