Former Alabama superstar Derrick Henry is adjusting to life with a new NFL team this season. So far, it’s going according to plan in the first game of the season.

A longtime member of the Tennessee Titans, Henry officially joined the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason for his 9th NFL season. In his age-30 season, Henry is trying to prove he still has plenty of gas left in the tank to play the physically demanding running back role.

On the opening drive of the game, Henry made his presence felt, particularly in the red zone. He carried the ball 5 times for 17 yards to begin the season, capping the drive with a 5-yard touchdown for the NFL’s first score of the season.

Henry is one of the most decorated backs in Crimson Tide history. He rushed for nearly 3,600 yards in 3 seasons for Alabama, going on to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy and SEC Offensive Player of the Year award while leading the program to a national title.

Across 8 NFL seasons, Henry has just over 9,500 yards with 90 touchdowns. He has led the NFL in carries 4 of the past 5 seasons but averaged just 4.2 yards per carry on 280 attempts a season ago. We’ll see if he can have a rebound performance with the high-flying Ravens this year.
