Former Alabama tight end CJ Dippre did not need long after the 2025 NFL Draft ended to find a home.

Dippre announced on social media shortly after the draft concluded that he has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the New England Patriots. Dippre was hoping to hear his name called during the draft, but there comes a point on Day 3 where it becomes more advantageous to slip out of the field and gain a bit of leverage over where a player begins his career.

The Patriots also signed former Ohio State tight end Gee Scott Jr. to a UDFA deal after the draft ended.

The 6-foot-5, 262-pound tight end spent 2 seasons with Alabama after transferring in from Maryland. Dippre combined with Robbie Ouzts — who was drafted in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks — to give Alabama a productive tight end pair atop the depth chart last season.

Dippre caught 21 passes last season for 256 yards. He was 1 of only 3 Alabama players who cleared 20 receptions on the season. He had 11 receptions for 187 yards in his first season with the Crimson Tide.

Other UDFA signings from the Tide include punter James Burnip (Saints) and long snapper Kneeland Hibbett (Dolphins). Alabama had 7 players selected throughout the 2025 NFL Draft.
