Former Alabama WR Cam Sims promoted to NFL active roster

Former Alabama wide receiver Cam Sims will get another shot at NFL playing time. The Washington Redskins promoted Sims to their active roster this week.
Washington, who is 0-4 this season, made the move official on Tuesday.
Sims posted 41 catches for 467 yards and two touchdowns in four seasons at Alabama. As a senior in 2017, he recorded 14 receptions for 207 yards with a touchdown. Sims play for the Crimson Tide from 2014-17, winning two National Championships.
He entered the 2018 NFL Draft but after going undrafted, Washington signed him in May 2018. Sims appeared in one game during the 2018 season before suffered a season-ending injury, but he rejoined the Redskins practice squad following 2019 training camp. Sims will get his first crack to play Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Washington is ranked 16th in passing yards per game, but the Redskins may be turning to rookie signal caller Dwayne Haskins again in Week 5. If that happens, receivers such as Sims will have to help the rookie quarterback in anyway possible.
