According to a report from Opelika-Auburn News, former Auburn head coach Pat Dye is being sued for false imprisonment.
A Macon County man filed the lawsuit — alleging that Dye held him against his will after a traffic accident neat Alabama Highway 81. After the accident, the man said that Dye and a woman named Lynn Huggins took him to Dye’s home where, according to the complaint, “they detained the Plaintiff (McCoy) without his permission or acquiescence and over his objection, and the Plaintiff could not reasonably or practically leave,” according to the report.
Dye feels as if the lawsuit is a fabrication, and said that he only offered McCoy a ride home.
Dye, 76, had a 12-year coaching career with the Tigers on the plains. He accrued a 99-39-4 record — including a win in the 1983 Sugar Bowl. Dye is also known for coaching iconic running back Bo Jackson.
