Rob Bironas, former place kicker for the Tennessee Titans, died in a car crash late Sunday evening just outside Nashville, Tenn.
Bironas, 36, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after the accident where he was pronounced dead. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs involved, according to ABC 7 in Chicago.
On its website, Metro Nashville Police said Bironas lost control of his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali shortly after 11 p.m. Police said the SUV was speeding around a curve when it went off the road and hit a line of trees before coming to a stop upside down.

The Titans released Bironas this winter after nine seasons with the team. He worked out for both the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the offseason.
He was the fourth-most accurate kicker in NFL history, converting on 85.7 percent of his field goal attempts. He finished as the Titans second leading career scorer with 1,032 points. Bironas made a franchise-record 11 game-winning field goals in his career and was selected to one Pro Bowl.
Bironas began his college career at Auburn before transferring to Georgia Southern where he won a Division I-AA national championship with the Eagles.
