Former Florida assistant heading to ACC program, per report

Former Florida offensive line coach John Hevesy is expected to be headed to Georgia Tech as a consultant this season, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Hevesy has spent the last the last 17 years of his career coaching the SEC and is best-known for his recruitment of current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones to Mississippi State.

He was most recently at Florida on Dan Mullen’s staff. In 2020, the offensive line Hevesy coached factored into one of the nation’s most successful offenses. That season, quarterback Kyle Trask became a Heisman Trophy finalist and with the Gators he led the country in passing yards per game (378.6). The Gators ranked eighth in the country in yards per play (7.28) and ninth in yards per contest (509.8).

Much has changed since then as Florida prepares to move forward with the start of the Billy Napier era with a possible riser at quarterback in Anthony Richardson, who some have already projected will be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
