Former Florida WR, Auburn assistant Ike Hilliard lands NFL position

Former Florida WR Ike Hilliard is returning to the NFL.
Mike Garafolo broke the news that Hilliard will be an assistant coach with the Atlanta Falcons. Hilliard is familiar with new Falcons head coach Raheem Morris as they spent time together in Tampa Bay and Washington.

Hilliard played for Steve Spurrier at Florida from 1994-to-1996. After helping the Gators win the 1996 national championship, Hilliard declared for the 1997 NFL Draft. A 1996 Consensus All-American and first-team All-SEC selection, Hilliard has been inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame, the Florida-Georgia game Hall of Fame and recognized as an SEC Football Legend.

Hilliard played in the NFL from 1997-to-2008 with the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He finished with 546 catches for 6,397 yards and 35 touchdowns.
After his playing career, Hilliard got into coaching. His first NFL gig came with the Miami Dolphins in 2011. He was a wide receivers coach from 2012-to-2021, with stops at Washington, Buffalo and Pittsburgh.
Hilliard joined Auburn’s staff for the 2022 season as wide receivers coach. After Bryan Harsin’s dismissal, Hilliard was named interim offensive coordinator.
