Former Florida WR Elijhah Badger reportedly signs UDFA deal with NFL contender
Elijhah Badger is headed to the defending AFC champions.
According to a report from The Draft Network’s Justin Melo, Badger is signing a free agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Florida receiver went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but didn’t last long in the free agent market.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver began his career at Arizona State, where he led his team in receiving in back-to-back seasons. He transferred to Florida for the 2024 season and was nothing but productive.
Badger led the Gators in receiving while spending most of his time as an outside receiver. He finished the 2024 season with 9 starts in 12 appearances, 39 receptions for 806 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Badger’s 20.1 yards per reception average ranked fifth among FBS pass-catchers.
He closed out his collegiate career with 181 receptions for 2,446 yards and 14 scores. He had at least 65 catches and at least 700 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons with the Sun Devils prior to arriving in Gainesville.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Badger ran a 4.43 40 and posted a 35.5-inch vertical.
It’s a tremendous value for the Chiefs, who went 15-2 last season and appeared in the Super Bowl for the fifth time in 6 years. Eight different players had at least 20 receptions in the Chiefs’ passing attack last season. If Badger can make the team, he’ll be in an envious position for a young receiver.
In addition to Badger, 4 other former Gators had signed UDFA deals at the time of publication: Desmond Watson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Montrell Johnson Jr. (Philadelphia Eagles), Ja’Markis Weston (New York Jets), and Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson (Tennessee Titans). Florida had 7 players selected in this year’s NFL Draft.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
