Former Florida WR Justin Shorter has scored his first touchdown in an NFL game.
Kyle Allen connected with Shorter for a 17-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter of the Buffalo Bills preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shorter finished the game with 5 catches on 6 targets for 47 yards and 1 score.
The Pittsburgh broadcast can be heard in the clip referring to Shorter as a Penn State product, upsetting some Gator fans who commented on the Bills’ tweet. Shorter was a 5-star signee in Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class, but transferred to Florida ahead of the 2020 season.

Shorter played in 34 games over 3 seasons at Florida. He recorded 95 catches for 1,395 yards and 8 touchdowns in his UF career.
The NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for 2020 gave Shorter the option to play a sixth season of college football. Shorter instead opted for the 2023 NFL Draft. He was selected No. 150 overall in the fifth round by the Bills.
Shorter’s preseason touchdown won’t count in his official NFL stats, but plenty of Florida and Buffalo fans hope that Saturday’s TD was the first of many for Shorter.
