Former Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney will reportedly make his 2024 debut with the Cleveland Browns this weekend. Adam Schefter is reporting that the speedy WR has been elevated from the team’s practice squad and will play against the New Orleans Saints.
This will be the first time Toney has been active for an NFL game since Week 15 of the 2023 season as a member of the Chiefs.
Toney’s NFL career has not gone according to plan thus far. The former Gator was selected in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but finished with just 39 catches for 420 yards in his rookie season. After playing just 2 games with the Giants in his 2nd season, Toney was shipped off to the Chiefs for a couple of draft picks.
Toney continued to struggle in Kansas City. The wideout failed to secure a permanent role on the team and fell out of favor due to costly drops and penalties.
Before the final cutdown day this season, Toney was let go by the Chiefs. The receiver latched on with the Browns’ practice squad, where he has been ever since.
Before a disappointing NFL career, Toney excelled for the Gators. The WR caught 120 passes for 1,590 yards and 12 TDs from 2017-2020. The WR earned Second-team All-American and First-team All-SEC honors in 2020.
Toney’s Browns will kick off against the Saints on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Browns elevated WR Kadarius Toney from their practice squad to their active roster for Sunday’s game at New Orleans and downgraded OT Jedrick Wills Jr. to out due to a knee injury.
