Former Georgia defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett has found his next landing spot. In the midst of another day of the College Football Playoff, Jarrett announced he had committed to the USC Trojans via social media.
It should serve as a better opportunity for Jarrett to climb the depth chart, something he looked to do with the Bulldogs, but had trouble accomplishing due to some of the injury issues he suffered. Jarrett saw the field for 11 games during the 2024 season, finishing out with 3 tackles. There was a time when it appeared that Jarrett had potential to be an every-game starter with the potential to be a key part of the run defense, but that looks like a harder act to pull off at Georgia with the trajectory he’s been on, largely for no fault of his own.
Georgia, which has lost multiple players to the transfer portal and is expected to be equally active in picking up players, will continue its season against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 1 in the Sugar Bowl without Jarrett.
Over at USC, Jarrett is filling a large void after the departure of Bear Alexander, who himself entered the transfer portal and is set to take the field for the Oregon Ducks next season.
