Former Georgia QB Jacob Eason was signed to the New York Giants’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Eason was initially drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the 122nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he only appeared in one game over a 2-year span with the team. After being waived on Oct. 19, 2021, Eason was claimed off of waivers by the Seattle Seahawks but was waived nearly a year later.

He was then picked up by the Carolina Panthers to be a part of their practice squad and was elevated to the active roster following an injury to then-starter Baker Mayfield. Eason appeared in one game but was returned to the practice squad and later released. Following that, Eason worked out with the 49ers and was briefly on their practice squad before he returned for an even briefer stint on a future/reserve deal with the Panthers.

Eason was a highly-touted 5-star recruit out of Lake Stevens, Washington, but Georgia managed to poach him out of the Pacific Northwest in the Class of 2016. The 6-foot-6 QB threw for 2,430 yards and 16 TDs as a true freshman and appeared to be well on his way to becoming the next great UGA signal-caller, but an early injury in 2017 and Jake Fromm’s rise to stardom derailed that dream.

From there, Eason opted to return closer to home to play for Washington in 2019, where he threw for 3,1,32 yards and 23 TDs in his best season as a college quarterback.
