Former Georgia RB, first-round pick Sony Michel retiring from NFL, per Sean McVay

Former Georgia RB Sony Michel has decided to retire from the NFL. He played 5 seasons in the league.
Michel signed with the Los Angeles Rams for a second stint with the team in June. On Saturday, Sean McVay told reporters that Michel informed the Rams head coach of his decision.
Rams’ HC Sean McVay told reporters that RB Sony Michel, New England’s first-round pick in 2018, informed him this morning he has decided to retire from the NFL.

Michel was a Bulldog from 2014-to-2017. He was then selected No. 31 overall by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Michel spent 3 seasons in New England, helping the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII for the 2019 season. In 2021, Michel joined the Rams and picked up another ring, as a member of the Super Bowl LVI-winning squad.
After his season with the Rams, Michel signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2022. He was released before Week 1.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Michel ahead of the 2022 season. He made 10 appearances off the bench and was released on Dec. 31.
Michel played in 65 regular-season games (35 starts), rushing 779 times for 3,243 yards and 18 touchdowns, while catching 56 passes for 439 yards and 2 scores. He played in 7 postseason contests (3 starts), rushing 109 times for 475 yards and 6 TDs.
