Former Georgia running back James Cook has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the Buffalo Bills.
Cook was an essential part of the Bills’ offensive effort run the team’s 31-10 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night, rushing for 78 yards on 11 carries with 2 touchdowns, also hauling in a 17-yard score through the air.
Versatility at the running back position in the modern-day NFL with the ability to get things done traditionally as well as to be a part of the passing game out of the backfield is essential, and Cook reflected that well in the first multi-touchdown game of his NFL career.
So far this season, Cook has rushed for 149 yards with 2 touchdowns. He has also reeled in 4 receptions for 49 yards with a receiving touchdown.
“It means a lot to him to do his part,” head coach Sean McDermott said during his press conference when asked about Cook and the honor he received.
Cook and the Bills are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars up next on the schedule at 7:30 p.m. ET in Highmark Stadium.
