Former Georgia RB Sony Michel was chosen by the New England Patriots with the No. 31 overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. His backfield mate, Nick Chubb, didn’t have to wait much longer to hear his name called, as he went No. 35 overall in the second round to the Cleveland Browns.

As Chubb prepares to embark on his NFL career, he now has a new jersey number to wear.

According to 247Sports, Chubb is wearing jersey No. 31, instead of the No. 27 jersey he sported during his college career:

Former Georgia running back Nick Chubb will wear No. 31 next season. Defensive back Frank Minnifield is the best player to ever wear the No. 31. It was most recently worn by defensive back Reggie Porter, who has since been released.

Chubb will compete with Carlos Hyde, Duke Johnson and others for the starting job this fall in Cleveland.

Right now, though, he’s at a rookie minicamp, trying to make a good first impression on his new coaches and teammates.
