Former Georgia wide receiver Chris Conley was released by the Houston Texans on Friday afternoon in order to make room for tight end O.J. Howard, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.
This marks the second time Conley has been cut this week. He was originally released on Tuesday when the Texans cut their roster down to 53 players but he was re-signed on Thursday in the midst of several players being placed on injured reserve.
Conley appeared in 16 games for Houston last season, making 10 starts. He recorded 22 receptions for 323 yards with two touchdowns. Conley was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft and still holds the NFL Combine record for the highest vertical leap (45 inches).
To make room for TE O.J. Howard, the Texans released WR Chris Conley.
