Kentucky quarterback Drew Barker had a rough outing at Florida last weekend, going 2-of-10 for only 10 yards and three interceptions.
But one former Wildcats signal-caller still sees promise in the sophomore. Maxwell Smith spent last summer working out with Barker, who he said has “made big strides,” according to a report from lex18.com.
“The kid has talent. He has a good head on his shoulders,” Smith told lex18.com. “I saw him as a leader all summer long. I saw the way guys took to him.”
Barker had an explosive start to the season, throwing 278 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of Kentucky’s 44-35 loss to Southern Miss on Sept. 3. But in the six quarters since then, he’s only 6-of-15 for 46 yards, four interceptions and two fumbles.
