The 2020 NBA Draft was held at ESPN studios on Wednesday night, and a dozen former SEC stars heard their names called — 6 in Round 1 and 6 in Round 2.
Former Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey was the No. 21 overall pick and will head off to Philadelphia to play for the 76ers as a rookie in the season that starts next month.
After Maxey was chosen, NBA superstar LeBron James gave him a shoutout on Twitter, saying Philly got a heck of a player:
@TyreseMaxey CONGRATS Lil bro!! Proud of you kid. The work continues! Philly got a good one for sure! ??✊??

That’s an awesome shoutout for the incoming NBA rookie. LeBron is a megastar and one of the greatest players of all-time.
Now, we’ll see if Maxey can become an NBA star alongside Sixers standouts Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
