Former LSU safety Jamal Adams receives a huge contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks
This off-season has been long and complicated for the Seattle Seahawks. One of the biggest goals going into the season was to get former LSU Tiger and current Seahawks safety Jamal Adams a contract extension.
On Tuesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Seahawks and Adams agreed on a 4-year, $70-million deal. This deal reportedly makes Adams the highest-paid safety in the league:
The #Seahawks have agreed to terms on a large extension for star S Jamal Adams, a 4-year, $70M deal that makes him the league’s highest paid safety, I’m told. He gets $38M guaranteed, breaking the stalemate. A long time coming and well-deserved. ???

Since coming into the league as the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, Adams has been one of the most consistent defensive playmakers. Adams was named to the Pro Football Writer’s Association All-Rookie Team in 2017. Since then, Adams has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of the past 3 years.
After 3 years with the Jets, Seattle traded for Adams. In 12 games played this past season, Adams accumulated 83 total tackles, 59 solo tackles, 14 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks.
