Groce entered the transfer portal on Nov. 2. A 6-foot-2 linebacker from Alabama, Groce spent 2 seasons at Mississippi State. Originally committed to Nebraska before flipping near the end of the 2020 cycle, Groce appeared sporadically for the Bulldogs and never recorded a stat.
As a recruit, he was a 3-star linebacker prospect and the 24th-ranked player from the state of Alabama. He was rated as the 29th-best at his position and No. 562 overall in his class, per the 247Sports Composite.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
