Jake Garcia is on the move again. After 1 season at East Carolina, Garcia is looking for a new home.

The former Mizzou and Miami quarterback is heading back to the transfer portal as he seeks a new opportunity for 2025.

Garcia is a well-traveled quarterback and was transferring before his college football career even started. He memorably moved from California to Georgia to play during the COVID-19-impacted 2020 high school football season. His parents legally separated so the move to Georgia would be a “bona fide move” to meet football eligibility requirements, creating controversy.

Finishing his career at Grayson in Loganville, Georgia, Garcia was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 Peach State recruit, No. 8 quarterback and No. 48 prospect overall in the 2021 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite.

Garcia signed with Miami as part of the 2021 recruiting class. He played only 1 game in 2021. In 2022, Garcia made 8 appearances for the Hurricanes, he was 68-of-115 passing for 803 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

After the 2022 season, Garcia transferred to Mizzou. He did not record any statistics during 2023 as a Tiger.

Garcia spent the 2024 season at ECU. He played in 6 games, going 109-of-181 passing for 1,426 yards with 8 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
