The Jets’ odds of winning Week 1 may have just taken a nosedive as star defensive lineman, and former Missouri Tiger standout, Sheldon Richardson has been suspended for the opening week of action by the NFL.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Richardson violated the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, which led to the suspension:

The Jets will host the Cincinnati Bengals Week 1 without Richardson but will have him back the Week 2 game against Buffalo. Richardson’s violation stems from a 2015 offseason arrest, in which the defensive lineman was registered driving at speeds of over 140 miles per hour. Richardson was driving with a minor in the vehicle, had a loaded hand gun and upon being pulled over officers detected the smell of marijuana from his vehicle.
After leaving Missouri, Richardson won the 2013 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
