Former Tennessee defensive back Jaylen McCollough is making plays as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

The former Vol went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but quickly latched on with the Rams. McCollough ended up being 1 of 4 UDFAs to make the Rams’ final roster, and the young DB has played in all 4 of the team’s games so far.

On Sunday, McCollough got his 1st career interception, and it was the best kind: a pick-6.

Packers QB Jordan Love was being heavily pressured by, coincidentally, another Vol, Byron Young, and made an errant throw to avoid a safety. However, Love should have just given up the 2 points considering the ball went right to McCollough, who then scampered into the end zone for a score.

The NFL also provided a fun alternate angle of the play, which shows the incredible speed of Young.

The TD put the Rams up 13-7 late in the 2nd quarter.

McCollough has been a great story so far. The DB was a reliable playmaker for several seasons with the Vols. McCollough played in 60 games and racked up 242 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 6 INTs. The defensive back was thought of as a late-round draft prospect, but he ended up going undrafted.

It seems like McCollough landed in a good place, though. The DB has gotten plenty of chances to play for an injury-riddled Rams’ defense.
