Mike DeBord, who served as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator from 2015-16, is currently in the University of Michigan Hospital’s intensive care unit after he suffered a stroke earlier this week, according to John Brice of Football Scoop.

DeBord had a “major brain bleed,” per Brice, who also shared that DeBord’s family said the next few days are “super critical” and that they are asking for prayers.

DeBord hasn’t been coaching this season after he briefly came out of retirement earlier in the year. He was hired by Kansas to serve as its offensive coordinator in February, but he was let go a month later after head coach Les Miles had been fired.

In 2020, DeBord served as an offensive analyst at Michigan, marking his third stint as a coach with the Wolverines.

While with the Vols, DeBord served under Butch Jones for 2 seasons. DeBord and Jones had previous ties, as Jones was an assistant under DeBord at Central Michigan, where DeBord served as the head coach from 2000-03.

DeBord left Tennessee to become the offensive coordinator at Indiana, where he coached from 2017-18. After that, he was briefly the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Fleet of the short-lived Alliance of American Football in 2019.
