In his two years with the Volunteers, Shrout threw for 494 yards passing with 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Shrout entered the NCAA transfer portal in December.
Colorado will now be looking to freshman Brendon Lewis as the starting quarterback with Shrout’s season-ending injury.
A 3-star recruit coming out of Melissa, Texas, Lewis is a dual-threat style quarterback that was an AP all-state selection his sophomore season.
The Buffaloes begin the 2021 season against Northern Colorado.
