Former Tennessee WR Preston Williams has signed with the Carolina Panthers’ practiced squad, the team reported Monday.

Williams spent 2 seasons at Tennessee in 2015 and 2016 before finishing his college career at Colorado State. He signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2019 after going undrafted.

In 2015, Williams amassed 7 catches for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Vols.

The 6-5, 220-pound receiver has pulled in 56 catches for 787 yards and 7 touchdowns over the course of his NFL career.

His most successful season was his rookie year, when he pulled in 32 for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Dolphins. Williams was the Dolphins’ leading receiver before he tore his ACL 7 games into the season.

Since the injury, he has been trying to get back to the level he was at rookie year. Williams will look to make his way back to a roster through spending time on the practice squad.

The Panthers kick off the regular season on Sunday when they take on the Browns at home at 1 p.m. ET.
