Former Texas A&M RB Isaiah Spiller dealing with injury, could miss Week 1

Isaiah Spiller made his name with the Texas A&M Aggies where he was an All-SEC running back and totaled 2,047 yards and 15 touchdowns between his sophomore and junior seasons.

Spiller left for the NFL a season early and entered the 2022 NFL Draft, where he was taken by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round.

Judging by his excellent career at Texas A&M, Spiller should have a bright future ahead of him — especially as he learns from Austin Ekeler and Josh Kelley ahead of him.

Any hopes he has of jumping over Kelley on the depth chart have been squashed — at least for now — though. Spiller left LA’s last preseason game against the Cowboys with an ankle injury, and head coach Brandon Staley is now updating the media that though the injury doesn’t appear to be serious, Spiller will miss the final preseason game and perhaps Week 1 for the Chargers as well.

Spiller was first-team All-SEC for the Aggies in 2020 and second-team in 2021.
