Former Texas Longhorn running back and retired NFL player Fozzy Whittaker broke down the ways that Texas matches up against Alabama.
Whittaker went on WJOX 94.5’s “McElroy and Cubelic In The Morning” to discuss how the Longhorns can compete with Alabama. This is a hot topic, as the Longhorns will take on the Tide in Week 2.
Whittaker discussed some possible advantages and the reality of this matchup:
“The advantages are very few right now. Texas is starting some really young talent at the key offensive line position and obviously at the quarterback position.”
The level of confidence the Longhorns should have is a tough call to make for the Texas and Alabama matchup.

But, Whittaker says there is one playmaker aside from quarterback Quinn Ewers and running back Bijan Robinson that the Tide need to watch out for, and that’s WR Xavier Worthy.
“Xavier Worthy was just named to the ACC preseason second-team All-American. He had almost 1,000 yards as a true freshman, a season ago,” Whittaker said.
“(Worthy) has super, super, good speed. Good hands, as well. He’s a really good route runner. He kind of reminds me a little of Jerry Jeudy, the way he runs his routes. Xavier Worthy is going to be that top wide-out target, along with Jordan Whittington.”
Jordan Whittington, wide receiver, is another huge playmaker for the Longhorns that could shift more advantage for the Longhorns.
Stay tuned to see how the Big 12/SEC matchup with Alabama at Texas plays out on Sept. 10.
