For any aspiring coach, having the last name “SABAN” as a reference on a resume will certainly garner some attention.
Nick Saban’s constantly growing coaching tree has included a multitude of noteworthy individuals — such as Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher, Jason Garrett, and Mark Dantonio (among others).
One coach hoping to eventually vault into this category is Mike Miller. According to AL.com, Alabama hired the former UAB signal-caller as an offensive graduate assistant.
Miller was ironically enough a student assistant coach at Clemson — before leaving to become the offensive coordinator at Charlotte Christian High School this past season. The program went 10-2, and advanced to the state title game.
This is yet another shrewd move by Saban. Miller’s experience within the state of North Carolina could pay dividends down the road when it comes to recruiting. In addition, it can’t hurt to have a former college quarterback on the staff bestowing his knowledge to the likes of Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.
