Former Vanderbilt LB Zach Cunningham was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans to bring him back to a familiar area.
The Titans announced the news after Cunningham was released by the Houston Texans on Wednesday after he made 67 total tackles, one forced fumble and 3 pass deflections in 10 games this season for Houston.
Cunningham was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and had more than 100 tackles each of the past 3 seasons, including 164 tackles in 2020. At Vanderbilt, Cunningham earned All-SEC honors in 2015 and 2016. He also became the first Commodore player in team history to earn unanimous First Team All-America recognition and the 7th player ever to claim consensus All-America honors.
The Titans hope Cunningham can fill a hole in a linebacking corps that has seen several injuries for multiple weeks, including 2 players on injured reserve, the Titans reported.
