Laquon Treadwell made his presence felt during his time at Ole Miss. In just three seasons as a Rebel, while missing out on a few games during his sophomore season, Treadwell recorded 202 receptions for 2,393 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He was productive, to say the least. So, when taken in the first round of this past year’s NFL draft by the wide receiver-needy Minnesota Vikings, many thought he could provide a nice one-two punch with Stefon Diggs on the outside.

However, when Week 1 rolled around and the Vikings faced the Tennessee Titans, Treadwell didn’t play a single snap. Here’s what he said about his non-existent playing time.

“It was more mentally challenging,” said Treadwell, via Minneapolis Star Tribune. “But you’ve got to go through it, create some fuel, I guess, to play harder. I don’t know. I’ve never been through this. I’ll just come in and work harder and get better.”

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer reportedly told Treadwell he wouldn’t play against the Titans unless there was an injury and that Diggs didn’t play for a few weeks at the start of his rookie season last year either.

As long as Treadwell does improve, though, he should see the field. The Vikings will need all the help they can get since they will likely be starting a new quarterback sooner than later after trading for Sam Bradford.
