Julian Rochester, a four-star defensive tackle recruit in the class of 2016 for the Georgia Bulldogs, could be cleared in time for the team’s season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3. Rochester has an ongoing case regarding a BB gun shooting incident.
Seth Emerson of dawgnation.com says Rochester has been running as the first-team defensive tackle in practice. According to Rochester’s layer, Kim Stephens, Rochester is in final discussions to receive pre-trial intervention (PTI).
“We hope to get it handled very soon” said Stephens, via dawgnation.com. “It’s more of a discussion of the terms and conditions now.”
If Rochester does in fact get the PTI, the charge would be dismissed and they would be expunged from his record. According to Emerson, first-year head coach Kirby Smart hasn’t disciplined Rochester yet because of the case still ongoing.
At this rate, it appears Smart won’t have any disciplining to do, and if the case goes Rochester’s way and ends by the end of the month, the freshman from Powder Springs will be starting in front of his home-state fans in the Georgia Dome on ESPN against the Tar Heels.
