Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Feleipe Franks has one believer on Florida State according to Tampa Bay Times’ Matt Baker.

His Seminoles supporter Keith Gavin, attended the same high school as Franks: Wakulla High.

The two former teammates have kept in touch, despite playing for rival teams on the college gridiron. Coming out of high school, both were talented 4-star players. Gavin chose the Seminoles while Franks opted with the Gators.

Franks, a redshirt freshman, has the physical tools to excel standing at 6-foot-6, but his frame isn’t the only reason Gavin believes in his former teammate.

“I know his work ethic. I know what he can do…” Gavin said Sunday during FSU’s media day. “I know he’s going to grind for it.”

Franks has a difficult road to the starting job. Former starter Luke Del Rio and Notre Dame graduate transfer Malik Zaire are also competing for the same position. Despite this, Gavin is still headstrong for an old friend.

“When he gets his chance, I think he’s really going to do some big things.” Gavin said.
