Frustrated Tennessee fans start #EmptyNeyland campaign to voice their anger

Looking for a new strategy to accelerate the coaching change from Butch Jones, Tennessee fans have started an “#EmptyNeyland” campaign in order to put additional pressure on Athletics Director John Currie and others in the school’s leadership.
The sentiment was only magnified Sunday afternoon when reports surfaced that Florida was cutting ties with coach Jim McElwain after the Vols were widely believed to be the first school in the SEC to begin its coaching search.
As is the case with many coaching exits, the fans have taken to supporting the players while also asking fans with tickets to stay home. Several fans openly hoped that Currie and other leaders of the school have worked behind the seasons on possible replacements if they let Jones go.
For what it’s worth, the movement became a trending topic on Twitter in Knoxville.
The timing is unfortunate given the fact that the Vols have scheduled homecoming for this week against Southern Miss.
