FSU beats Miami after Hurricanes run illegal play with 2 seconds left

FSU and Miami played an exciting game on Saturday evening in Tallahassee.

But, the game ended in unusual fashion with the Hurricanes trying to drive down the field trailing by 3 points.

As you can see below, with 2 seconds left, down 31-28, the Miami quarterback spiked the ball.

Oops.

According to the referees, there have to be at least 3 seconds left on the clock for a quarterback spike to be legal. Thus, as you can see below, the game was ruled to be over, giving the Seminoles the win:

Obviously, that’s a bit of an anti-climactic way for a game to end, but Mike Norvell and Florida State will certainly take the win any way they can get it.

What a bizarre way to lose for the Hurricanes, though.
