FSU beats Miami after Hurricanes run illegal play with 2 seconds left
By Adam Spencer
Published:
FSU and Miami played an exciting game on Saturday evening in Tallahassee.
But, the game ended in unusual fashion with the Hurricanes trying to drive down the field trailing by 3 points.
As you can see below, with 2 seconds left, down 31-28, the Miami quarterback spiked the ball.
Oops.
According to the referees, there have to be at least 3 seconds left on the clock for a quarterback spike to be legal. Thus, as you can see below, the game was ruled to be over, giving the Seminoles the win:

Obviously, that’s a bit of an anti-climactic way for a game to end, but Mike Norvell and Florida State will certainly take the win any way they can get it.
What a bizarre way to lose for the Hurricanes, though.
