Game contracts released for Auburn non-conference contests

Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request, details of Auburn’s non-conference schedules for the upcoming years have been released.

Auburn will pay opponents a total of $3,015,000 for the 2016 season and $3,150,000 for the 2017 season.

According to AL.com, who filed the FOIA request, hosting Southern Miss for a pair of non-conference games in 2018 and 2020 won’t be cheap:

Southern Miss will collect more than any of Auburn’s currently scheduled non-conference opponents through 2024, with a $1.7 million payout in 2018 and $1.85 million in 2020, which were reported on Thursday. Also in 2018, Auburn will pay Alabama State $515,000 in their first ever meeting, the same as Alabama A&M will earn for playing the Tigers this fall. The contract for the Nov. 20, 2021 meeting with ASU was not immediately released.

Auburn and Penn State, scheduled to play a home-and-home series in 2021 and 2022, will not exchange money in the agreement.

When Auburn and Oregon square off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to open the 2019 season, the Tigers will receive $3.5 million from ESPN.
