Defensive back Chris Smith (Rock Hill, S.C.) verbally committed to South Carolina on Friday during an unofficial visit, according to The Big Spur.
He is the Gamecocks’ ninth commit in the 2016 class. Several notable players have signed with the Gamecocks in recent years from South Pointe High including Stephon Gilmore and Jadeveon Clowney.
