The nation’s No. 1 cornerback just announced his college commitment.

Five-star prospect Ga’Quincy McKinstry of Pinson, Ala., just announced his pledge to Nick Saban’s Alabama program over Auburn and LSU during a live commitment ceremony from his Pinson Valley High School.

McKinstry says he plans to play both football and basketball for the Crimson Tide.

Why Alabama over Auburn and LSU?

“I just feel this is where I can be myself at, I’m not far away from my family,” McKinstry said after committing to the Tide. “And now I can finally say it, I’ve been recruited since I was a freshman, I can finally say I’ve been an Alabama fan all my life. My dream school.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Pinson, Ala., native is rated as the No. 1 cornerback prospect in the nation in the 2021 recruiting cycle and the No. 24 overall prospect in the class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Prior to this commitment, Alabama already had the No. 1 recruiting ranking in the nation for the 2021 recruiting cycle. The Crimson Tide now hold commitments from 22 overall prospects and five pledges from five-star prospects.
