Gavin Kilen made his 1st home run with the Tennessee Volunteers one to remember.

Tony Vitello’s squad is in action against UNC Asheville on Tuesday. The Vols were trailing in the bottom of the 2nd inning before Kilen changed that with one big swing.

A junior infielder, Kilen decided to take his talents to Rocky Top after 2 seasons at Louisville. Last season, Kilen earned third-team All-ACC recognition, logging 41 RBIs while posting a .330 average with 23 doubles, 3 triples and 9 home runs. With the Vols, he had a strong opening weekend series, logging 7 runs scored with 3 hits and 5 walks against Hofstra.

Kilen’s 3-run jack wasn’t even the biggest homer of the frame. He was upstaged a few batters later when Dalton Bargo hit a grand slam to make it a 9-3. The Vols would add 1 more when Jay Abernathy crossed the plate thanks to a throwing home on a stolen base attempt.
