Georgia announces its Week 1 players of the week

After Georgia’s dominant 45-0 victory over Austin Peay on Saturday, coach Kirby Smart announced his players of the week.

Jake Fromm, QB

Fromm started right where he left off from last season, completing 12-of-16 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns against the Governors on Saturday. He averaged 9.81 yards per attempt and finished with a QB rating of 198.7.

 

Ben Cleveland, OG

Cleveland helped the Bulldogs offense rack up 508 total yards and 21 first downs against Austin Peay. The redshirt sophomore is a rising star on this Georgia offensive line.

 

Rodrigo Blakenship, PK

Blakenship is regarded as one of the best kickers in the country and it showed on Saturday. Blakenship connected on all six of his extra point attempts and hit a 34-yard field goal as well.

 

Keyon Richardson, LB

Richardson did not record any tackles against Austin Peay, but Smart was impressed with his play nonetheless.

 

J.R. Reed, DB

Reed led the Bulldogs with six total tackles on Saturday.
