After dropping a series last weekend to LSU, Georgia entered this weekend looking to bounce back at home against Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs dropped the series opener Friday evening but came back with a huge answer on Saturday.
Entering the bottom of the 7th inning of Saturday’s game, Georgia trailed 4-3. By the time the inning was over, the Bulldogs had an 11-4 lead it would not relinquish.
The first big blow of the inning came off the bat of Connor Tate. He laced a go-ahead 2-run home run to put Georgia up 5-4.

That was just the start of the rally for the Bulldogs. Later in the inning, Fernando Gonzalez would make it 9-4 with a 3-run shot off the batter’s eye, Gonzalez’s second home run of the game.

Tate would come back around to the dish and finished off Georgia’s 8-run inning with a 2-run double to make it 11-4.

When it was all said and done, Georgia walked away with a 13-7 win over Vanderbilt to even up the weekend series. Tate finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with a run scored and 5 RBI while Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI.
Sunday’s rubber match in the series is set for 2 pm EST.
